Biography: Alfred Bernard, born 1888 in New Orleans, died 1949 in N.Y.C. Recording artist from the Vaudeville era, and the most popular "blackface" performer, he was also a comedian and composer. One of the first white singers to make blues records, he first did the St. Louis Blues in july 1918.
